At Maaron Business School, we offer a TOEFL™ test-preparation program that helps you to bridge the gap between general English language knowledge and recognized acceptance of your abilities by potential post-secondary schools (Colleges and Universities) and employers.
Many students learning English know that strong English skills alone are not enough to guarantee success TOEFL™. To succeed on this test, students need specialized skills and strategies based on the test itself.
Our preparation class is designed specifically for non-native speakers of English and offers you a comfortable yet challenging study environment. This unique program focuses on learning test-taking skills and strategies that you need to score well on the TOEFL™ exam. MBS is one of the only schools in Central Africa with a test preparation program specifically targeted to each area of the TOEFL™.
About the test
The TOEFL™ iBT assesses all four basic language skills, including speaking. The reading and listening portions of the test employ more first-year university level material than was previously the case.
- Approximately 3.5 - 4 hours
- 0-120 Test-takers will receive a scaled score on each of the four skill areas tested (0-30 each) in addition to an overall score (the sum of the four skill areas).
Changes from the TOEFL™ CBT
- Integrated skills questions now test students' ability to integrate information from more than one source.
- The test no longer has a stand-alone grammar segment (grammar is now tested throughout)
- Each section is progressively more difficult throughout the test, but students are able to take notes during many sections (previously not allowed on the TOEFL™ CBT)
- One, mandatory, 10 minute break is given after the Listening section.

The New iBT TOEFL Test
The test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFLTM) is a standardized test that measures the English proficiency of students who wish to enter college, university, and/or the workplace in English-speaking academic/professional settings. The new iBT (internet-based test) TOEFLTMexam, also known as The Next Generation TOEFLTM Test, has four sections covering the language skills of reading, listening, speaking, and writing. The test is about 3 ½ - 4 hours long, with one 10 minute break after the listening section. In the reading section, students read three passages about some academic / university topic and answer (13-14 questions per reading passage) questions about them.
In the listening section, students listen to two conversations and four lectures and answer questions about them. In the speaking section, students speak in response to two questions about their own experience (give an opinion) and four questions about texts that they listen to or read during the test. In the writing section, students write in response to two questions. One question is about a reading and a lecture, and the other question is about a general topic (give an opinion).
Maaron Business School and TOEFL
At MBS, all students are expected to have a superior control of the English language. As a result, sall students who are not native English speakers and who have not entirely studied in English will be required to attempt and pass the TOEFL exam or similar standard examination with satisfactory grade if they are to join Maaron Business School.

How to register
To register for this program, students must physically come to th school and speak to an advisor. The advisor will assess their level of entry so that they can be assigned to the correct group. The registration form can be obtained exclusively from the admission department.
